The Summer Enrichment Program at Winston Preparatory School provides students with the unique opportunity to participate in an individually designed program aimed to enhance academic skills and foster independence.  Students are enrolled in four academic classes each day—Language & Literature, History, Science, and Math as well as gym and art classes—from 9 am to 1 pm from June 25th  to July 23rd.  Students are grouped by skill level and learning style in class sizes no larger than eight individuals to facilitate greater learning.  The summer staff consists of reading specialists, speech and language pathologists, and special education instructors from Winston’s full-time faculty.  The program develops decoding and encoding, reading comprehension, memory retrieval, organizational skills, written language expression, self-advocacy, mathematical computation, time-management skills, critical-thinking skills, test preparation, and expressive language skills within a nurturing, academic environment.  Students from fourth through twelfth grades from private, public, and parochial schools from New York City and abroad participate in the program.  Tuition is $2,500.

From 1:30 pm to 3 pm, we offer optional 45-minute classes and activities. Students are given the opportunity to enroll in one-on-one instructional sessions or to engage in after-school activities or to participate in both.  One-on-one instructional sessions are taught in conjunction with morning academic classes or can be specifically tailored to target areas of greatest need.  An independent study program and college-preparatory courses are also available.  Tuition for one-on-one sessions is $1,200 for twice weekly classes.

After-school activities include Digital Photography, Computing 101, Basketball, Judo, Kick-Boxing, Arts & Minds, Playwriting and Performance, Power Yoga, and Cross Training.  Each after-school activity is $300 for twice weekly activities. 

This year we are beginning the August Program and students may also enroll in one-on-one sessions from August 2nd until August 26th.  Sessions and hours are flexible and schedules can be designed for either mornings or afternoons classes throughout the month of August.  Tuition is $1,200 for twice weekly classes.

The Summer Enrichment Program gives parents the flexibility to create an academic program specifically matched to the needs of their child.  Parents may choose to enroll their child in the morning academic program, optional one-on-one afternoon instructional sessions, after-school activities, and/or the August Program.  With these options, there are several different possible schedules for your child.  Deadline for applications is June 1st.  Scholarships are also available.
