Description:
Traditional Camps Camp Laurel Ridge & Camp Kittatinny Laurel Ridge and Kittatinny campers have the opportunity to custom design their program each week by signing up for three elected activities. In addition, there is one period for swim lessons and another when campers elect to go swimming or go to the athletic field and court area to play a sport of their choosing. Cabin mates will also enjoy something different during morning and evening activity periods - before and after normal activity time. Believe it or not there is still time for "siesta" right after lunch when everyone has a little quiet time to read a book, write home or hang out with friends or visit the Trading Post. Environmental Trips for Challenge at Fairview Lake YMCA Camps We may share our love and respect of the outdoors with you Expect to work hard supporting each other, pushing limits, reaching new heights and discovering a new you! Whether it's hiking, rock climbing or spelunking, ETC has an adventure for you! The Adventure Awaits - All we need is you and a friend. Our stables and riding areas are the summer home to 30 horses selected to be ridden by campers of all ages and abilities. Our staff provides instruction for the novice to experienced rider where participants learn all aspects of horsemanship. Campers can select whether they ride Western or English. Each day campers will have the oportunity to participate in swimming before dinner and traditional camp activities in the evening. Each camper or 'Ranch Hand' is assigned a horse and is taught to be responsible for its care, including grooming, caring for the tack, doing stable chores...and building a loving relationship with their horse. Then they saddle up for expert riding instruction and non-agressive training. The main emphasis of the program is control of speed and steering using proper cues. Campers will fine tune riding skills and participate in a gymkhana finale. Our Riding Director is a Certified Horsemanship Association Instructor. Ranch Camp Two-Week Programs Includes many of the same lessons as the one-week program plus so much more. The emphasis is on advancing your abilities as a rider. Campers will increase their knowledge of horses and learn basic animal care - recognizing common diseases, reading vital signs, and administering basic first aid. Experience an overnight trail ride and a day of traditional camp activities. August campers attend the nationally famous Sussex County Farm & Horse Show. Advanced Riding Week Campers will take their horsemanship to the next level. They will have more intense instruction including dressage and jumping. Good riding skills with minimum two year experience required. Call to verify that Advanced Ranch Camp is a good match for you. Fairview Lake YMCA Camps offers a selection of camp programs that focus on specific areas of interest.
